Ensuring that your Dog has the proper Nourishment   by Jeanne Perciaccanto

People generally want the best value possible when purchasing products. They research all of the various alternatives and then choose that which they feel is the best suited for their specific needs whether a television, stereo or a pet. In selecting a puppy, many follow this same protocol when determining which breed would be ideal for their family. They go to the library and check out books, or buy books about specific breeds. They contact their Vet and ask for advice and information. They go to dog shows and meet with different dog breeders. This whole process may take as long as a few months before the ideal pet is finally chosen. Upon bringing their new pet back home, they will then often put their dog on any old dog food, even though many if not most mainstream dog foods contain chemicals, food colors and food preservatives that can be very harmful and even fatal to your pet. Think about it: If you go to the store and purchase food for your families’ dinner, you will almost certainly select the most wholesome and nourishing foods available because you know that nutrition is simply the building block and foundation our bodies require for health and wellness. Although the protein may all be labeled as 'Beef', all cuts and quality are not nearly the same and costs vary relative to quality. Dog food is the invisible protein. After all, you may read all the labels but there is simply nothing on the label that identifies the protein's quality or even it's initial source. The USDA has allowed a very general interpretation of what dog food producers may use as meat sources. To save cost, they often use meats which are not sat all uitable for human consumption in our dog’s food. I guess you get what you pay for though. Nature determines what your dog’s core needs are, however, and you should consider the balance of the food itself. A new trend is to sell designer foods for various stages of life. If each individual piece of kibble is correctly formulated and works in balance with the next to ensure your animals health, your dog will then manage to take what nourishment it reqiures from the foods. Single source meat products do not necessarily meet the needs of a growing dog nor the senior dog that needs to build and repair as they age simply because it lacks in all of the needed amino acids. In fact, both ends of the age spectrum need the foods for the same basic reasons, yet their body’s individual nourishment needs will be the determining factor as to how much to take from each individual meal. There are 3 proteins from chicken, fish and egg which are complete in Amino Acids and digest easily. The carbohydrates are complex and do not become simple sugars producing wild energy swings. If you want your Dog to have adequate nourishment, he or she must have a good dog food. A dog food that is Premium and Holistic may be the best choice for your Pet.
